Livres québécois à paraître  RSS feed - Quebec Edition.

The monthly Livres québécois à paraître lists forthcoming Québec books for which Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) has created a Cataloguing in Publication record during the month.

These bibliographic entries are produced in accordance with the Cataloguing in Publication Program (CIP) . Part of a major international strategy, this program is coordinated by Library and Archives Canada (LAC) and managed in Québec by BAnQ, which receives requests directly from French-language Québec publishers.

The Cataloguing in Publication Program (CIP) helps promote new books and provides booksellers and library staff with all the data required for retrieving and selecting these works. It also helps speed up material processing in libraries, and consequently, makes new Québec releases available more rapidly.

The cataloguing record provides a brief description of the publication and its content. It details the major attributes of the publication, such as author, title, series title, ISBN, subject headings and classification numbers.

Order of records

The Livres québécois à paraître list is divided into five parts:

  • Private-sector monographs
  • Government publications
  • Children’s literature (works of fiction, documentaries, sound recordings  and electronic resources)
  • Sound recordings
  • Electronic resources

Within each part the records are presented alphabetically according to their main entry headings. The anticipated date of publication is also indicated at the end of each record.

Livres québécois à paraître  has three indexes: the first includes individual authors, corporate bodies, titles and series titles; the second makes it possible to find subjects as expressed by subject headings. The third gives access by publisher using the form of namegiven in the publication.
