Research Support Programme

Updated July 15, 2020

Programme de soutien à la recherche. Fondation BAnQ.

The programme

The Research support programme aims to promote and support scientific works in humanities and social sciences dealing with:

  • Québec's documentary heritage;
  • themes related to the mandates of Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ);
  • the metadata on BAnQ's documents and the data produced by BAnQ's activities.

Corpora available to researchers

BAnQ is collecting a unique and valuable documentary heritage: archival fonds, which include private, government, civil and judicial archives, as well as the heritage collections, made up of virtually all of the documents published in Québec, Québec-related documents published outside Québec, collections of historical value (e.g. the Saint-Sulpice and Gagnon collections), and special collections. As a result, numerous corpora are available to researchers:

  • Monographs
  • Government publications
  • Newspapers and periodicals
  • Early books
  • Archival fonds
  • Music-related collections (sound recordings, scores, books)
  • Posters
  • Performing arts programs
  • Prints
  • Art bindings
  • Artists' books and bibliophile books
  • Postcards
  • Photographs
  • Maps
  • Architectural plans
  • Visual iconography collection
  • The collection of the Centre québécois de ressources en littérature pour la jeunesse (CQRLJ)
  • Québec websites collected as part of  the Website Harvesting Program
