Services for job seekers

To complement the network of local employment centres (Centres locaux d’emploi [CLEs]) located throughout the territory of the Île de Montréal, the job/career centre (Centre emploi-carrière) offers assisted service and self-service to all job seekers.

Emploi-Québec de l'Île-de-Montréal places at the disposal of Grande Bibliothèque users a specialized document collection on the labour market to complement the thematic collection on economics and business located adjacent to the job/career centre.

Job seekers can also avail themselves of the online services of Emploi-Québec to obtain information on labour market trends, and on trades and occupations currently in demand or with good employment prospects in the next few years. At Online Placement, available jobs can be consulted and résumés can be deposited.

Emploi-Québec staff, on hand Tuesday through Friday, from 5 pm to 10 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm, offer assistance in writing résumés, navigating sites of interest for jobs or training, sending faxes to potential employers, and more.

At the software library, you can familiarize yourself with the new technologies and consult CD-ROMs to learn about computers, office automation or accounting.

At the language laboratory, you can improve your knowledge of French or another language to prepare for work in a foreign country.

In addition, training workshops are scheduled on the activities calendar of the Grande Bibliothèque.
