Group study rooms at the Grande Bibliothèque

The Grande Bibliothèque provides four group study rooms (reservations required) and an open-access multigroup study room (no reservations required) located on Level 2 for small groups of up to 4 people.

Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) supports the organization of meetings, activities and events directly related to its mission and mandates, in the public areas of its facilities.

Study room reservations

You must make a reservation to use a group study room at the Grande Bibliothèque, though it is not required for the open-access multigroup room on Level 2. To reserve, you must join BAnQ, if you have not already done so, and your account must be in good standing.

Reservation policies

  • You can make a reservation for up to three hours per week.
  • A minimum of three persons is required to access and use the group study rooms.
  • The use of a group study room is restricted to subscribers aged 14 and over.
  • Reservations may be made up to a week in advance, except for the study room at the Collection nationale, which can only be reserved the same day.
  • A study room cannot be used or reserved using someone else's subscriber's card.
  • A reservation cannot be transferred or exchanged with another subscriber.

To reserve a study room, you must apply

  • on the spot, at one of the Grande Bibliothèque's service desks (excluding circulation and subscription desks)
  • by telephone, at 514 873-1100, option 2 or 1 800 363-9028, option 2.

To reserve the study room at the Collection nationale, you must go to its service desk.

Cancellation

  • Your reservation will be cancelled if you do not show up at the service desk within 15 minutes of the reserved start time.
  • If you fail to cancel your reservation or if you repeatedly cancel it without reasonable grounds, you will lose your privileges associated with this service.

 

Study room use

In order to keep the premises and the furniture clean and in good condition, and ensure that it can be used by all, we ask that you:

  • events taking place in the public areas must not be of a commercial, religious or political nature;
  • the public areas cannot be used on a regular basis by a same group (weekly meetings, etc.).

 

Study carrels

Study carrels located on levels 2 and 3 can be reserved by groups of no more than two persons, and only when they are not needed by researchers.
