Published monthly in print from 1968 to 2002, the Bibliographie du Québec is presently offered in an electronic version. As of January 2003, all issues and annual cummulations are available free of charge on the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) Web portal.

The Bibliographie du Québec lists all materials published in Québec during the current and previous years, which were acquired by legal deposit or purchase. Materials published elsewhere but related to Québec due to their author or subject are also included.
The monthly cataloguing records created at BAnQ as part of the Cataloguing in Publication (CIP) Program are listed in the relevant sections. In addition, users may refer to the Livres québécois à paraître publication.
The Bibliographie du Québec is divided into nine parts:
Records are presented by section and, depending on the category, according to the Dewey Decimal Classification or the Cadre de classement des publications gouvernementales du Québec, or in alphabetical order by main heading.
Since 2013, the choice and form of the access points is established in accordance with RDA, Ressources description and access. Previously, the choice and form of headings was established in accordance with the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2). The choice, order and punctuation of descriptive elements is in keeping with the International Standard Bibliographic Description (ISBD) proper to the type of material in question. Records are established according to the maximum and minimum description levels authorized by theAnglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2).
The subject headings assigned to the publications described in the Bibliographie du Québec are formulated using the subject headings in the Répertoire de vedettes-matière of the Bibliothèque de l'Université Laval and/or the name headings found in the Fichier d'autorité of BAnQ.
A classification number from the Dewey Decimal Classification is assigned to all private-sector monographs, additionally, a number from the Library of Congress Classification is assigned on a selective basis to certain categories of monographs and all cartographic materials
Records for Québec government monograph or serial publications are given an alphanumeric code taken from the Cadre de classement des publications gouvernementales du Québec, established by BAnQ.
Materials that belong to none of the above categories (cartographic materials, sound recordings, serial publications from the private sector, electronic resources and visual materials) display no classification code in the Bibliographie du Québec; they are classified according to an in-house classification system.
The number appearing on the last line of each record is the bibliographic record registration number in the BAnQ’s Iris catalogue. The figures given at the end of Cataloguing in Publication (CIP) records indicate the anticipated date of publication.
The Bibliographie du Québec has three indexes: the first includes individual authors, corporate bodies, titles and series titles; the second makes it possible to find subjects as expressed by subject headings. The third and newest index gives access by publisher using the form of namegiven in the publication.
Monthly issues from the current year remain available until the publication of the annual cummulation. Users can also refer to the annual cummulations from previous years on the BAnQ Web portal.
