Québec heritage collection

The Québec heritage collection consists of books; reference works; microforms accessible directly off the shelves or from file cabinets; and journals, magazines, newspapers and Québec Government and Government of Canada publications on mobile shelves, available for on-site consultation by asking service desk staff. These documents are published in Québec and are received by legal deposit, whereas works about Québec and foreign works are obtained by acquisition, gift or exchange. Rare and valuable works are also be available, as well as the genealogy collection.

Users in the reading room of the heritage collection have :

  • photocopiers, digital reader/copiers and multimedia stations at their disposal. This allows them, in accordance with the use policies in force at the BAnQ:
  • to consult the library catalogue;
  • have access to digitized resources (the digital library);
  • the Internet and the databases offered at the BAnQ;
  • send e-mails;
  • consult their user's record;
  • download the resources consulted;
  • and use the software applications of the Microsoft suite.

Qualified staff is there to assist them.
