Located on Level 4 of the Grande Bibliothèque, in the heart of the music and film section, the National music collection is made up of sound recordings and printed music published in Québec. It is one of the heritage collections, developed primarily through legal deposit, donations and purchases.

BAnQ Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie houses preservation copies as well as materials that are rare, unique or too fragile. It should, however, be noted that all requests concerning sound recordings and printed music are handled at the music and film service desk.

The services and collections of the National music collection are intended for researchers and informed music lovers.
